Bounce and Shake
Supplying energy to our body through movement, rather than caffeine, is nourishing to our nervous system. Sometimes we choose to go deeper into our lull of energy by binging on a series or eating too much rather than giving our nervous system what it is asking for: movement, or a nap!
If it is not sleep we need, we can do this exercise to create some vital energy and gain focus and momentum to be and do what we desire.
In those moments when we experience chaotic energy building up within, this practice can also be useful in order to give it an outlet. We will feel more settled after doing so.
Take a moment to feel what you feel inside
With feet planted on the ground, begin to bounce through the knees.
Begin making karate chop movement with your hands
Slowly float your arms up until they are over your head, spending a bit of time at each height to shake your arms at that location
Continue with a soft bounce that slowly increases in depth
If it feels right, raise your chin up as you inhale and bring your chin to your chest as you exhale
Continue for at least 30 seconds to as long as 30 minutes!
Take a moment at the end to feel what has shifted
A longer practice can actually stimulate our Mystic (see Wholeness Companions) to come online. A nice follow-up is to take the time and savour the expansive feeling that this companion brings.
Bonus: This is an amazing exercise to activate the lymphatic system first thing in the morning or after sedentary periods.
